Pennine started producing folding campers in 1977, with its first mainstream model, the Alpine, being produced from 1978 to 1981.

The company continued to develop and expand over the next 3 decades, acquiring main competitors, Conway, in November 2002.

In 2008, the Pennine and Conway ranges were re vamped, and, shortly afterwards, the company entered into a working relationship with Isabella, in Denmark, for the production of acrylic cabin and awning canvases.

Unfortunately, in spite of its ongoing expansion, the company ceased trading in 2014. It was immediately taken over, in a management buy out, by a couple of former employees, each with around 25 years of experience, and the business was continued, with a few key staff, in smaller premises, under the banner of Pennine Outdoor Leisure Limited.

At present, there are four models in the Pennine / Conway range; the Conway Countryman, the Pennine Fiesta, the Conway Crusader and the Pennine Pathfinder. There are, however, many older models in the Pennine range. We will be looking at each of those, in sequence, starting with the oldest first. The older Conway models are dealt with, separately, in the Conway section of this guide.

Pennine are, now, the leading producers of folding campers, in the UK, with the only other competitor being Opus.
